How can architecture respond kinetically to music, to listen to it and “dance” to it? This project proposes the kinetic response of architectural elements to music.

In the first iteration of this project, building facade panels for a concert hall in Budapest, Hungary were envisioned to respond to the music performances inside. A system of mapping the twelve semitones of an octave in music to an 15 degree angle was envisioned, and the panels would shift in response to the music. The length of the panels map to the length of the music, and the materiality of the panels map to sound textures of dynamic, articulation and tone.

The next iteration of this project seeks to adapt this system to responsively kinetic fabric structures. A live performance of music will activate fabric panels.
